With the spatial, topological and topograpgical turns at the latest, understandings of space started to change in general discussion. A room is more than 4 walls, a floor and a ceiling, that much is clear. Cultural phenomena, politics as well as social performance create space. There are virtual rooms, rooms for thought, imagined rooms and imaginative rooms,... – the list goes on. Who is in the space? Who is outside the space? How do we set up spaces, how do we furnish them? What do spaces tell us?... – This list goes on as well. Space is an umbrella term, which can be adapted and specified in various ways. In this issue of GASTGARTEN, we are interested in collecting specifications.
